We found an awesome tutorial by our friends at How About Orange that will teach you how to make gift bags from your stash of envelopes! The link follows after our additional ideas and tips.

You can follow the same style that was instructed in the tutorial, but if you want more ideas, here are some suggestions:

1. Oldie But A Goodie – If you want your envelope bags to take a more vintage feel, try to get passport-style stamps so that you can use them for this project (and for future projects to come). Get a brush and dip it in an instant cofee and water solution. Tap off the excess water and lightly brush the solution on your white envelopes. Let them dry before using your passport-style stamps. Make your paper bag as instructed in the tutorial. Fill it with goodies. Fold and glue the top of the bag and punch a hole in the middle. Get a ribbon, insert it through the hole and tie it. You can also attach a small card before tying.

2. Spring Flowers – If you have old scraps of tissue paper (or any craft paper), you can make paper roses out of them. Try to use different colors for this so that your paper bags will look so lively. If you have white envelopes, try to paint them with watercolors.

3. Other Themes

Easter/Spring – Paint the bottom of your envelope bag with green watercolor (white envelopes are great for this theme) and then let it dry. Cut up pieces of colored scrap paper.Get some Mod Podge and brush a strip of it on the bottom of the bag. Stick your pieces of paper. This will resemble colored egg shells.
Summer – use sand
Fall – use red/orange/gold scraps of craft paper
Winter/Christmas – use metallic red/green/white scraps of craft paper

4. If you want a more unique and environmentally friendly way to wrap or store your gifts in, try using materials that you already have at home.
