If you love to spend your time in the kitchen, you would know that it can be a bit of a hassle whenever you’re trying to look for a particular ingredient for a recipe. This tutorial by One Lucky Pickle will teach you how to make magnetic spice jars that are great for organizing and decorating! The link to the tutorial follows after our additional comments.

Really strong magnets are available these days, and these are made from Neodymium – a rare earth element. They can easily be obtained on eBay. You might even find some of these magnets are too strong! The solution to this is to simply use smaller magnets of a similar type, as these will have less power.

The magnetic spice jar tutorial is so simple to do that you can actually use this technique with other DIY projects. Here are some ideas:

1. You can also make your pantry look more organized by storing your cereals, oatmeal or dried beans in big jars. Of course these might be too big to stick to the fridge – but you could use magnetic labels on the lids to identify each jar or write the expiration date.Another great idea from the tutorial is to wrap your jars with strips of scrapbook paper.

2. Magnetize Your Pictures – Try getting magnet stickers from the arts and crafts store and then print out your favorite photographs. Stick the photographs on the adhesive side of the sticker magnet and cut them to size. Post these picture magnets on your fridge.
